GUNNEBO Chains comply with EN 818-2:2008, ISO 3076:2012, AS 2321:2014, ASTM A391/A391M-07 (2012).
MIGUEL ABAD markets the KLB Classic series of short links and grade 8 alloy for its market.
During forging and welding, the operator continuously checks that the link meets the specified dimensions, both before and after welding.
During welding, link samples are continuously measured. The pieces are then visually examined to assess their shape and dimensions, and to remove any burrs. Chain samples are taken, which are heat-treated and subjected to ultimate load testing. The entire chain is then heat-treated.
Quenching and tempering are carried out continuously in computerized induction furnaces with samples taken regularly.
Proof Load:
The entire chain is subjected to a load test. The applied force for short-link chains is 2.5 times the permissible WLL.
This gives the chain a high degree of safety in service. The chain is then visually inspected and cut to
delivery lengths. A sample is taken from each length and subjected to a destruction test. The dimensions and shape are also checked. All results are recorded.
Branding and Traceability
International standards for lifting chains require that the chain be marked with the grade and manufacturer. Our chains feature the following markings: “SWE – 10G – H – 10G – 4”; where the “H” and “4” represent the traceability code combination.
In the unlikely event of a chain failure, that particular link can be traced back to the batch it belongs to, the raw materials used, the year, and the place of manufacture.
