MIGUEL ABAD's ART barrel couplings are installed in crane lifting mechanisms to connect the cable drum to the gearbox output shaft, as well as in conveyors.
When the gearbox output shaft is rigidly connected to the drum in a lifting mechanism, resting on three points, it creates a statically indeterminate system. This type of assembly requires special care in alignment and leveling, which is difficult to achieve in practice. Assembly inaccuracies, as well as structural deformation, bearing wear, etc., generate enormous additional forces, especially on the gearbox output shaft, which, due to alternating bending forces, can lead to fatigue failure and damage to the bearings and gears. To achieve a statically determinate fit and thus avoid high bending moments, barrel couplings are installed between the gearbox and the cable drum, compensating for alignment defects.
As an option for our clients' engineering departments, we offer the ART PLUS line, featuring a more robust design, which provides greater dynamic load capacity and torque transmission. It is specifically designed for retrofitting existing services and reducing the size of other mechanisms when engineering new equipment.
They are fully interchangeable with our ART line, allowing for larger gearbox shaft diameters.
